It was great to get time in the rig under the supervision of a very experienced operator.

Nick breaks down the technical aspects of the steadicam in a way that's easy to understand. Static balance, dynamic balance, gimbal hand control, he covers it all. But more than that, Nick has a list of credits on top tier shows longer than your arm. He's a storyteller, first and foremost. He's able to speak to the more nuanced aspects of operating -- how story informs shot composition and camera movement, how to navigate the set as a camera operator and much more.

Highlights were talking shop in regards to the role of the Steadi/A operator on set, and the mindset necessary to work at the highest levels.

Nick's perspective on shot composition and camera movement being a creative choice (instead of purely technical) was very insightful. Also great to talk sled configurations; really helped my confidence in being able to adapt on the fly. 10/10, would do it again!

I had the pleasure of attending Nick's two day steadicam workshop. It was hosted by Dingos Camera in Burbank. I brought my own rig but Nick is able to provide a rig to use throughout the workshop. Day 1 involved more understanding of each component of each equipment; vest, arm, sled. With technique and knowledge to understand how to achieve a steadicam shot. Day 2 was where my body got wrecked. We focus heavily on practical hands on training and practice scenes. Every take we spent the time reviewing and critiquing the take to understand the decisions made to achieve the shot. Nick was very informative throughout his workshop, speaking both from experience and wisdom to better prepare me on my future shots.
